  1. Support Encrypt Only as a label protection policy for emails

Encrypt Only is available in Outlook as a stand-alone option. In the same way a label can apply Do Not Forward, allow admins to define Encrypt Only as the action applied by a label.

  2. Prevent screenshots when using Adobe Plugin for read only content

Prevent screenshots when using Adobe Plugin for read only content. Protected view only content cannot be screen captured in the AIP app, but when using Adobe, it is allowed.

  3. Free text field so that we can write our own messages on the warn, justify, or block pop-up messages for specific labels

AIP is a good product but the customer messaging on functionality such as the "Confirmation Required" to warn, justify, or block pop-up messages for specific labels is too limited. cannot this be a free text field so that we can write our own messages?

  5. Make IRM-enabled Sharepoint library apply ISO format pdf

Currently, IRM-enabled SPO libraries protect pdf files using the v1 format (.ppdf), but with the extension .pdf.
Adobe's MIP/AIP plugin only supports the ISO compliant (v2) format protected pdf. To open a v1 pdf, users must actively use a different pdf reader or the AIP viewer.
Switching to the ISO compliant pdf format would bring a more consistent user experience and less support.

  6. Allow DLP/autolabeling rules to have multiple triggers with different actions depending on severity and context.

We have several use cases where we have documents with labels however we don't necessarily want to protect them unless certain criteria is met.

The use cases would be the following:

1- Document is labeled as confidential without protection and can be shared internally however if the document is sent outside of the organization then protection needs to be applied. The actions are logged.

2- Document is labeled as confidential without protection and when an user attempts to send it outside the organization via e-mail, the policy prompts the user with a warning or justification and also asks if the…

  7. When UDP rights are changed using built-in sensitivity labeling or the rights interface, change the policy ID

Currently, if UDP rights are changed through AIP labels, a new value is used for the TemplateID field in the document's policy. This is not the case when the rights are changed via the built-in rights menus or the built-in sensitivity label option in Office (preview).
This is important since it allows users to use document templates to store combinations of rights, and still be able to treat documents based on such templates as separate documents for the purposes of tracking, revocation, DLP analysis and reporting.

  8. AIP support in Adobe Reader Mobile App

It is great that AIP is now supported to be opened on Adobe Reader after installing the Addin.

However equally it is sad that this functionality is not yet supported on Adobe Reader Mobile App. Having this capability only on PC is half the functionality.
In these days of mobility when users access and annotate the PDF files more on mobile devices than PCs, this functionality should be available in mobile apps as well.

Any timeline or roadmap when Microsoft and Adobe are planning to release this on mobile apps?

  9. AIP can grant rights to documents based on a combination of document attributes (tags), user attributes, device attributes and other factors

AIP currently grants access to content based on a fixed Access Control List defined in the policy.
Granting access based on a series of arbitrarily complex rules that use attributes from different sources (Attribute Based Access Control or ABAC) would enable more flexible document protection scenarios such as limiting access to people based on the project they work in, their role in the organizational structure, their training status and more, and including in the decision different aspects of the document including whether the document is tagged as final, if it is flagged for external use or if it is related…

  10. Allow policies not to automatically grant owner right to document creators

While document creators have by definition unrestricted access to the data they add to the document, having owner rights would allow them to later extract data others have added to the documents they created. Owner rights also allow creators to downgrade classification on documents that have already been classified.
The suggestion is for AIP to have a setting on each policy that when enabled does not automatically grant the creator of a document full control rights or the ability to reclassify once the document is closed. This should enable revocation of access for content creators and would also prevent such…

  11. Limit custom permission (Select users, groups, or organizations) to not allow domain

Currently AIP custom permission allow users to type the recipients full email address, a group email address, or a domain name from the organization for all users in that organization.

It would be great if organizations can control to NOT allow domain name as recipient. as this could be a security concern. since anyone in the target organization domain name can access the content (although the tracking is available but risk of information sharing is increased).

  13. Allow modification to Do Not Forward template

The DNF template has restrictions on copy, print and export. Some customers would like to modify this template for example to allow print.

Maybe also a possibility to add a company wide scope of users to this dynamic rule like the request in
    https://msip.uservoice.com/forums/600097-azure-information-protection/suggestions/19602400-dynamic-protection-templates

And the possibility for the sending user to add more users to the permission list with BCC and without BCC

for example if Sara@contoso.com send DNF to Anna@contoso.com and Lisa@adatum.com but wants Anna@contoso.com to be co-owner.

if Sara@contoso.com send DNF to Lisa@adatum.com but wants her team to be co-owner.

  14. AIP Protection with Set user-defined permissions should allow hybrid settings. e.g setting Allow Offline Access which is not set by Office

When setting an AIP Protection policy with Set User Defined Permissions, AIP Admin should be able to include settings like Allow Offline Access within the Protection policy. This would then act the same as a protection policy with no users defined except for the Allow Offline Access setting, and the Office user selecting users and permissions.

  15. AIP Scanner - identify PxI and redact sensative data elements

Speech to text transcription services may output text that contains sensitive information such as credit card (PCI) numbers. It would be very useful to leverage pre-defined AIP Scanner policies to identify PCI data elements in the text files and also redact or overwrite the PCI data instead of just applying a label or protecting the file. Ideally this would be an Azure API service call or cmdlet.

  16. Allow the end user to view or edit specific section of the file content

Azure Information Protection, to allow to the end user to view or edit specific section of the file content (word) (Example: section 2.5).
AIP will work on sections inside the file not only on the file

  17. Enable co-authoring of Protected Documents

Currently, documents that are labelled can be co-authored in Office, but any document that is encrypted can only be opened by one person at a time. This prevents most of the business scenarios folks use today with two three or more folks editing a document at the same time. Instead - it forces businesses to email copies of a document around after setting AIP policies to allow folks to all edit it. A huge blocker for most of our customers.

  18. Automatically add first time Sign up instructions for external users

There should be automatic instructions added in an email (with a protected attachment) being sent to external users.

in Azure RMS early days Share-Protect feature used to add an automated sign-up instruction for external users. so that when a recipient who does not have AIP viewer or client, knows what to do to open the protected document or email.

Unfortunately this feature is no more. It would be great if such instructions can be added automatically in the email if AIP policy (or custom permissions) contains any external recipient.

This is a big ask by one of our customer we…

  19. Allow opening/viewing of AIP labelled and protected attachments inside protected email messages in Office 365 Message Encryption portal

Under the Office 365 Message Encryption portal you can access and view a protected email once you authenticate through the portal, but you cannot access a protected attachment by choosing Preview in the Office Online viewer, as you cannot in Office Online apps generally (from SPO or OWA etc). You can only download the attachment.

  20. excel filtering should not be disabled!

when document is protected, users having read-only cannot use filters. if you have couple rows it's not a problem.. but we are having report files with thousands rows - so either you have edit permissions, or you can't do any reporting. file is pretty much unusable without filters /: true bummer
