Currently there is no way to view protected PDF file on SharePoint.
Therefore you need to download the file to view.
When you try to view other file type that are protected such as .pjpg, download popup comes with just a click.
This should be happens to protected PDF files as well.3 votes
OME allows for sending emails withotu a link but with instructions on how to log in to retrieve your emails
Some organizations have established policies by which they will never send an email with a link to their customers. Since OME includes a link to open the email, this can go counter to such policies.
OME should allow users to log in to a specific portal where they can consume their protected emails sent by the organization, in the same way they use OME today but without having to click on a link in an email.3 votes

Please note AIP labels are now available in the public preview of the Security and Compliance Center labeling capabilities.
The DLP capabilities in SCC can leverage MIP labels, which can be synchronized from the AIP portal using the steps described here:
Also note that SharePoint DLP is not yet integrated with these labels, works towards a preview of that functionality is still ongoing.

Add new options in EXO DLP to interrogate and analyze protected attachments in unprotected emails or in emails protected with a different policy.37 votesWe're working on it! · AdminEnrique Saggese (Principal Program Manager, Information Protection CxE, Microsoft - Azure - Msip) responded
Support for attachments in protected emails (with the same or different policy) is already available, support for protected attachments in unprotected emails is being completed (currently in testing).
Currently, it is not supported to excute Get-AIPFileStatus /Set-AIPFileLabel command on SPO libraries.
We would like to use these commands on SPO libraries the same as On-premises SPS.
Add AIP support for non office files like PDF, JPG and other formats in Exchange online mailflow rules.
With office files everything is fine, file get protected, but non office files are kept unprotected. We need set expiration for emails and attachments.4 votes
