  1. Use AI to give recommendation how to classify

It would be cool to have AI in the Background that learns from already classified Documents of one Department or Businessline how critical expressions are related to each other and lead into a certain classification. With this AI-Knowledge the System would be able to recommend or auto-classify new or not yet classified old Files in the right way. This would lead into less manual confiured sensitifity types.
Focus of this idea should be the improvement of the recommendations in a first step without the need of manual configuration.

  2. Show who applied the classification label and when in the Unified Labeling client

If a document/email has been classified/labeled using the AIP Classic client, the AIP Classic client shows the email address of the user who applied that label (when hovering the mouse on it in the Information Protection Bar).

This feature is not present anymore in the UL client, reportedly "by design".

It would be useful to have as a configuration option in MSCC the capability to include among the properties of the document/email, also the name / email address of the user who applied at least the last/current classification label, and the date it was applied.

  3. Enforce default label for non labeled mails on the service side

This suggestion describe a scenario when all mails that are sent without a label (no AIP client, mail client that don't support labeling, enforce mandatory labeling) will be applied with the policy default label on the Exchange Online service side

  4. Enforce classification when using send as attachment

Enforce classification when using send as attachment option. Currently the classification is only enforced when the document is saved and this can potentially open up a loop hole for sending out unclassified documents.

  5. Allow Keyword dictionaries to be used with 'AIP scanner' as conditions

Currently the AIP 'standard' client does not have support for adding keyword lists, or a practical way to add them besides adding single conditions with individual strings one at a time. The Unified Labeling client contains both options to add keywords comma separated, and keyword lists. This is great however currently the UL AIP client does not have a Scanner option. Thus, AIP scanner relies on AIP standard client and its labels and conditions that do not contain an option for adding vast numbers of keywords besides tedious single conditons. In the case of 'thousands' of keywords this is simply…

  6. Different internal and external encryption expiration of rights

We want to be able to have a time limit on a document with a sensitivity label that only applies to external users. We want internal users, contoso.com, to be able to always consume it while any other domain has the set time limit.

  7. Enforce classification when a document is opened

Enforce classification and/or protection as soon as a document is opened, even for a new document, instead of when the document is saved.

This can help in applying classification/protection to documents even while they are being drafted and yet to be saved.

With the current behavior there is a gap where a user can send a file directly via email using the send as email attachment option if the document is not saved. Please see attached snapshots

  8. Dynamic token injection into custom email headers

Building on this item ( https://msip.uservoice.com/forums/600097-azure-information-protection/suggestions/33963844-allow-custom-email-x-headers-defined-per-label ) there is a need to dynamically inject a token into the custom header.
IE. Embedding the user's email address into the custom header is a requirement for all Australian Government customers (~1m users nationally).

  9. Enable DLP enforcement for mails with specific label

We would love to have our DLP policy automatically pick up on emails that have a label or document and either gray out the send button if it meets the DLP policy or somehow stop the email automatically instead of sending back a block reply.

  10. Different labeling when message sent outside the organization

It would be nice if AIP could change automatically the header and/or footer of a label when the message is sent outside the organization.

  11. Apply default label to SharePoint and OneDrive docs

Users may uninstall AIP client to attempt to circumvent AIP or just because they find it annoying. If the default label could be applied to any documents in SharePoint or OneDrive could be applied even if AIP client is not present, it would alleviate this potential security end-run.

Typically, end-users will not have admin rights to uninstall applications, but some times it is inescapable, esp in a small business.

  12. When encryption is added on existing labels automatically update documents via scanner and client

It can be useful to start a deployment with Labels only, without protection, that the end-users can get a feeling for this technology. It also helps avoid incompatibility issues (e.g. if a document repository or LOB app doesn't support protection yet).

After the users are comfortable with the technology and the potential issues have been addressed existing labels should be changed and have encryption added (without creating new labels, just change the existing ones).

The AIP Scanner should be able to automatically add protection to the documents that were labeled with these labels before protection was incorporated. The clients should…

  13. Add an option to protect only the header/footer/watermark from modification

When labeling the document a user can easily remove the header/footer/watermark and it will never show up again until you re-label the document.
It would be nice to be able to protect these markings from modification while the rest of the document is fully editable.

  14. Allow more sensitive info types to be added to auto labelling (in unified labelling)

With the classic AIP portal and client we could add many sensitive info types to the automated labelling function (e.g. 100 types in one label).

We have moved to unified labelling as obviously it makes sense longer term, however are are restricted to about 25 sensitve info types per label.

This is not useful when it was available in classic and when our company data classificaiton policy has been based on that function. Now we cannot automatically label more than 25 info types as 'Secret' as we have planned and documented.

This limitation is the same as in DLP policies…

  15. Support for "Label Advanced Settings" and "Label Policy Settings" in built-in Sensitivity labels in Windows, MacOS, iOS and Android

Currently only the windows UL client supports these settings. This means that something as simple as a different default label for Outlook is only available in Windows with the AIP Unified Labeling client. Please implement this ASAP in built-in sensitivity labels as it is the main reason why UL is not ready for production environments, since a different label for Outlook (among other settings) is essential for end-users.

  16. AIP Scanner - Add capability to forcefully override an already-classified document

In AIP Scanner, there should be a capability to enforce the overriding of label regardless of MatchPolicy setting is On or Off.

I am working with a customer who has a genuine requirement of overriding the labels for bulk files.

For example, AIP is configured to enforce a default label when user creates or saves a file. but later-on user moves this file to an AIP-repository (file share or SharePoint library), which is configured to apply another label.

Unfortunately currently AIP Scanner does not support this basic scenario. Currently, to make this scenario work, this another-label must have an automatic…

  17. Automatically change the AIP label after specific duration of time

The use case is there is a business financial information that is confidential only for 3 months after that the information is available to public, if the document is labelled as confidential after 3 months it should automatically change the label to public. This helps to spend our effort and secure the data that is critical and important.

  18. Enable mandatory labeling only for mails while documents can be unlabeled

We want to force email mandatory labeling without labeling document (email attachment).
Can this option “All documents and emails must have a label applied automatically or by users” be separated to only emails and only documents?
Currently in AIP there is no way to force label only on email.

  19. Prompt for Label Justification In Lowering Claassification In The Original Document Creation Session

Prompt for Justification in lowering the labeling classification from the default during the Original Document creation sessions. Today you must create the document save/close it. Then reopen the document and change the classification to get the justification prompt.

  20. Label change prohibition function for each application

When setting a default label, we need the ability to prevent users from changing labels.
It would be better to be able to set for each application (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook).

    < Business impact>
This is because there is a possibility that if another label is displayed, even though the default label is set, a user's operation error may be induced.
