  1. AIP Client for MacOS (for non-Office file formats)

Provide a Mac AIP client that is consistent with the current Windows AIP client, and is able to classify and protect documents from the desktop. For the AIP toolbar in Mac Office, use https://msip.uservoice.com/forums/600097-azure-information-protection/suggestions/19602337-integrate-aip-natively-into-office-for-mac.

The original feature of enabling labeling capabilities in Mac OS is currently available in public preview.
This suggestion was forked from the original general request to release an AIP client for Mac. Applying protection for non-Office files is currently available using the Mac RMS Sharing app which is not deprecated (unlike the Windows release). Therefor the suggestion is standing in order to release an AIP Client for non-Office files in Mac and currently updated to “Under Review”

          • Allow AIP authentication with identity realms other than Azure AD

The AIP Viewer can only authenticate via Azure AD, which is limiting to the way of sharing protected files, which is not sent by email where the federation is in place with Google, Yahoo, etc .. and the OTP code option

We are evaluating this request and need more input into how this feature should behave to meet your needs.
We will have automatic classification of inbound emails at the transport level, but this request calls for manual classification on the endpoint. A few clarifying questions:
                    1) What is the use case for classifying a received email? Who would use that classification and how?
                    2) Would protection need to be applied on the classified email (even when it’s not being replied)?
                    3) A user should not be able to change the classification of emails in other people’s mailbox, so as the request is defined classification would be only on the local mailbox of the recipient doing it. What happens if someone else replies to the same thread, which they didn’t classify, so the replies are no longer classified. Would that be a problem?

                  • Add option to label to remove visual marking

Adding a visual marking to a document often slightly modifies the lay-out. Next to that, in some specific cases a visual marking is unwanted (for example legal document, templates by an external company, …). Please provide a button to remove visual marking. This button should be scoped to limited group of people (AD Group?).

                        • Apply labels with key strokes

Neither the classification bar, nor the Protect menu seem to be accessible today via key stroke only. Some customer scenarios still include PCs without a mouse. Instead of requiring mouse to apply a non-default label, it would be nice to make labels available via key strokes.

                          • Allow for multiple labels to be assigned to one document or email.

In some businesses it would be useful to be able to tag a document as matching multiple labels (e.g. containing PII AND including references to Project X). The current design only allows for one label/sublabel to be attached to a document at a time.

                            • Perform a lookup and notify user when an email recipient is not included in the policy attached to the label being used.

Email users do not know the backend configuration of AIP protected labels so when they send a protected email they will not know if a recipient will be able to have access to it as intended. It would be possible to perform a lookup in order to match email recipients with AIP protection policy users and notify emails sender if the intended recipient would not be able to access an email because they are not members of the protection policy. This will enable email sender to take the necessary steps required to mitigate this situation.

                              • Provide classification in Outlook rules

We are using mandatory classification without a default. We do not have different sensitivity levels, but different types (customer confidential, company confidential, public, etc.) so no default is appropriate. This works well for us, but it doesn’t cover forwarding rules. I would our users to be able to create rules that classify messages. It would also be preferable if doing so were mandatory when using mandatory classification.

                                • Retrieve E-mail address by using AD(GC) or Azure AD

My customer is planning to use AIP client with protection-only mode.
If the customer has installed OUTLOOK, they can retrieve E-mail address by using OUTLOOK address book in the custom permissions.
However, any customer have not installed OUTLOOK.
In this case, We would like to retrieve E-mail address at AIP client by using AD(Global catalog) or Azure AD as like Office application.

                                  • Use Machine Learning to automatically classify content without fixed rules.

Microsoft has recently invested in Machine Learning technologies that can detect patterns and correlate different pieces of content. These are currently used for e-Discovery and other capabilities. Leveraging these capabilities to automatically classify content by correlating it with other pieces of protected content would provide more automatic classification, reduce false positives and lighten the load on administrators so they don't have to constantly update classification rules.

                                    • Onboarding Control Exclusion list

Ability to exclude some members of the tenant being able to use Azure RMS to protect documents. We currently have an onboardingControlPolicy option to include certain users, but this is not helpful when you have a specific AD group of users that should not use encryption for compliance reasons.

                                      • Classify & Protect multiple documents removes footer/watermark

When lowering or removing protection from multiple documents, the applied footer and watermark remains. Suggest either a pop-up that states visual markings won't be removed (to accommodate existing markings), or give the option to clear all markings regardless if AIP or user applied.

                                        • Hide the "Track and Revoke" option when licensed for RMS but not AIP (protection-mode-only).

Hide the "Track and Revoke" option when licensed for RMS but not for AIP (protection-mode-only). Track and Revoke only provides value for AIP, but when an enterprise license does not include AIP, sending our end users to the AIP page which suggests that they "sign up" for AIP is more than problematic. Many other interface options are hidden when in "protection mode only", this option also needs to be hidden to minimize end user confusion. We see this as real friction for deployment, likely to generate help-desk calls and cause end users a lot of needless confusion. At scale, this…
