  1. App specific visual markings in Unified Labeling client

Add the ability to set different visual markings for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook in AIP Unified Labeling client, as described here for AIP Classic client: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/information-protection/configure-policy-markings#setting-different-visual-markings-for-word-excel-powerpoint-and-outlook

  2. Support for disconnected environments with the AIP Unified Labeling Scanner

In special customer scenarios, systems might be completely disconnected and not have direct or indirect access to the cloud service. This is supported in the AIP Classic scanner. We need an option to distribute the policy manually in the disconnected environment.
Even if this is some kind of niche scenario, it might be important for many public sector or highly regulated customers.

  3. Free text field so that we can write our own messages on the warn, justify, or block pop-up messages for specific labels

AIP is a good product but the customer messaging on functionality such as the "Confirmation Required" to warn, justify, or block pop-up messages for specific labels is too limited. cannot this be a free text field so that we can write our own messages?

  4. Allow the use of VBA to set labels

Currently when programmatically working with Office using VBA there is no way to set labels. Could this be integrated when AIP becomes native?

  5. Avoid first online access to the protected document attached to an email

Usually before to take an airplan or exit from office, users download the email in local client (we are using Exchange Online as server),
When the user is in fly access to protected mail and wants acces to the attached protected document, so Exchange should pass thrue emai a valid certificate to open document.
Functionality that seems available in AD-RMS called "Exchange Prelicensing"

  6. AIP can grant rights to documents based on a combination of document attributes (tags), user attributes, device attributes and other factors

AIP currently grants access to content based on a fixed Access Control List defined in the policy.
Granting access based on a series of arbitrarily complex rules that use attributes from different sources (Attribute Based Access Control or ABAC) would enable more flexible document protection scenarios such as limiting access to people based on the project they work in, their role in the organizational structure, their training status and more, and including in the decision different aspects of the document including whether the document is tagged as final, if it is flagged for external use or if it is related…

  7. Built in Sensitivity Labeling in all desktop platforms (Office for Mac, Windows and web) have a horizontal toolbar like the AIP app

Enable the Classification Toolbar on built-in labeling on all desktop platforms including Mac Office (similar to the AIP client toolbar), so users have a consistent and more simple way to classify Office Files via the toolbar and not just the sensitivity button.

  8. Create an AIP Scanner Agent to avoid complex settings

At present, the progress of installing the AIP Scanner on the server-side is a little bit complex.
Besides, on the client-side, users have to set up shared folders for scanning. Could you create a Scanner Agent helping execute all those steps?

  9. Admins should be able to configure Terms and Conditions or a privacy policy to be shown when protected content is being accessed

When protected content is accessed, logs about the access are stored in the AIP Analytics service for the sender's tenant. Depending on the use and lifecycle of those logs an organization might want to notify recipients of protected documents of those actions.

  10. Improve support for s/mime signed and protected messages in OWA and Outlook Mobile

Currently, when sender has digitally signed a protected email in Outlook, recipients using OWA or Outlook Mobile will only see the IRM wrapper message.

If recipient uses Outlook 2016, the protected message is deciphered/rendered perfectly fine!

  11. Allow document revocation from PowerShell and SDK

It would be beneficial to be able to programmatically revoke access to protected content for a specific entitlement or for all entitlements.

  12. Manually classify incoming emails on reception.\

I have a customer that wants to classify incoming emails manually. But the lablebar do not show on incoming email. You can click to show the labelbar but not change existing (non existing) label.

We are evaluating this request and need more input into how this feature should behave to meet your needs.
We will have automatic classification of inbound emails at the transport level, but this request calls for manual classification on the endpoint. A few clarifying questions:
    1) What is the use case for classifying a received email? Who would use that classification and how?
    2) Would protection need to be applied on the classified email (even when it’s not being replied)?
    3) A user should not be able to change the classification of emails in other people’s mailbox, so as the request is defined classification would be only on the local mailbox of the recipient doing it. What happens if someone else replies to the same thread, which they didn’t classify, so the replies are no longer classified. Would that be a problem?

  13. Windows Explorer provides a visual identifier for labeled and protected content

Provide in explorer visual indicators that easily shows the classification and protection status of the document, both in the icon views and in the list views showing document properties.

  14. Allow for multiple labels to be assigned to one document or email.

In some businesses it would be useful to be able to tag a document as matching multiple labels (e.g. containing PII AND including references to Project X). The current design only allows for one label/sublabel to be attached to a document at a time.

  15. AIP Client for MacOS (for non-Office file formats)

Provide a Mac AIP client that is consistent with the current Windows AIP client, and is able to classify and protect documents from the desktop. For the AIP toolbar in Mac Office, use https://msip.uservoice.com/forums/600097-azure-information-protection/suggestions/19602337-integrate-aip-natively-into-office-for-mac.

The original feature of enabling labeling capabilities in Mac OS is currently available in public preview.
This suggestion was forked from the original general request to release an AIP client for Mac. Applying protection for non-Office files is currently available using the Mac RMS Sharing app which is not deprecated (unlike the Windows release). Therefor the suggestion is standing in order to release an AIP Client for non-Office files in Mac and currently updated to “Under Review”

  16. Enable the classification, labeling and protection of additional Outlook Items

Add the ability to perform CLP on calendar items and other items like tasks and notes

  17. Conditional Access policies for highly sensitive information types based on label

Add new policy options to integrate and enforce Conditional Access policies (such as user, device, location etc) when accessing sensitive information depending on the label, including MFA

  19. Apply labels with key strokes

Neither the classification bar, nor the Protect menu seem to be accessible today via key stroke only. Some customer scenarios still include PCs without a mouse. Instead of requiring mouse to apply a non-default label, it would be nice to make labels available via key strokes.

  20. Add option to label to remove visual marking

Adding a visual marking to a document often slightly modifies the lay-out. Next to that, in some specific cases a visual marking is unwanted (for example legal document, templates by an external company, …). Please provide a button to remove visual marking. This button should be scoped to limited group of people (AD Group?).
