  1. Support for disconnected environments with the AIP Unified Labeling client

In special customer scenarios, systems might be completely disconnected and not have direct or indirect access to the cloud service. This is supported in the AIP Classic client. We need an option to distribute the policy manually in the disconnected environment and for protection we need HYOK integration. To enhance the experience (compared to the classic client), bootstrapping the client automatically would really help.
Even if this is some kind of niche scenario, it might be important for many public sector or highly regulated customers.

  2. Support additional filetypes for AIP with MCAS Integration

We would like MCAS AIP Integration to support older Office formats (.doc .ppt .xls) as well as .csv and image formats (.jpg, .jpeg, .png) and .txt

  3. Label Creation Gui for Admins.

Instead of using Powershell scripts, develop an Admin Gui for Mass Creation of Label / permission , incl. csv import.

  4. Different labeling when message sent outside the organization

It would be nice if AIP could change automatically the header and/or footer of a label when the message is sent outside the organization.

  5. Make it possible for the RMS connector to use Modern Authentication!

"This account must not require multi-factor authentication (MFA) because the Microsoft Rights Management administration tool does not support MFA for this account. In addition, if you use Azure AD Conditional Access, do not block legacy authentication for this account."
The Block legacy authentication policy that is recommended to use in Azure cannot be used because of your own product, kind of embarassing for you, is it not?
Or make it possible to use the policy with exception for this account until fixed.

  6. Label with user defined protection available on mobile apps

In our enviroment all labels with protection are configured as: "Recipient Only" --> "User-defined permissions".
These labels in mobile apps (Word,Excel, etc) don't appear, so users cannot protect documents via mobile device

  7. Automatically change the AIP label after specific duration of time

The use case is there is a business financial information that is confidential only for 3 months after that the information is available to public, if the document is labelled as confidential after 3 months it should automatically change the label to public. This helps to spend our effort and secure the data that is critical and important.

  8. Audit email addresses and domains when applying custom permissions

If end users are frequently using custom permissions and applying individual email addresses and whole domains, it would be useful to be able to understand if there are commonalities between use cases.

Capturing that information in the Log Analytics back end would be sufficient.

  9. Prevent externals from changing the AIP classification label of a document

Consider the following, real world, scenario:

    • Alan works for Company X. Alan creates a Word document in his OneDrive and apply the AIP label "Confidential".

    • Alan shares the document with Bill in Company Y via a document share in OneDrive. Alan allows Bill to edit the document.

    • Bill opens the document in Word.

Bill sees Company X's AIP confidential label information in the yellow bar. That's good. However, Bill can edit the document and change the classification of the document to one in Company Y's tenancy. That's bad. See the attached screenshot.

There should be an option added to AIP…

  11. Automatically add first time Sign up instructions for external users

There should be automatic instructions added in an email (with a protected attachment) being sent to external users.

in Azure RMS early days Share-Protect feature used to add an automated sign-up instruction for external users. so that when a recipient who does not have AIP viewer or client, knows what to do to open the protected document or email.

Unfortunately this feature is no more. It would be great if such instructions can be added automatically in the email if AIP policy (or custom permissions) contains any external recipient.

This is a big ask by one of our customer we…

  14. Combine label with retention policy settings mainly emails in outlook.com

For usability reasons it would make terrible sense that emails could also be applied with a retention policy when applying a sub lable.
Or is this possible via quick actions?

  15. Allow users to change default label

Different people have different needs for the default label depending on their day to day job.( working in finance : default = confidential ; working in external communication default = unrestricted)

We liked that users can choose the better appropriate default label . If not possible apply default label to scoped policy (so to users groups).

  16. Inherit the classification label during export operations

When users export, save as or print (e.g. to pdf file) a document that has already a classification (or protection) label, the destination file should keep the same classification label and protection of the source file.

  17. Enable Office Mail Merge functions to apply classification to document and emails

Currently Mail Merge with mandatory classification, forces users to classify every single email that is sent by the mail merge, even when the users have correctly classified and saved the Word document template. This is causing our users to manually classify every single mail sent in a mailshot. Default classification won't help in the case that there's a requirement for a mailmerge to be a different classification. WE don't want to manage an operational overhead of having scoped groups with passphrases to get around the issue - please can you get AIP classifications working with mail merge.

  18. Increase the number of file types that automatically get protected when attached to a protected email, beyond Office andPDF.

Currently, when you attach an unprotected Office document or PDF to an email, and then protect the email, the attachment inherits the protection. This should be expanded to include other file types.

  19. Allow for formatting and hyperlinks in AIP label descriptions

Provide functionality to allow for formatting and hyperlinks in an AIP label description. This would allow for when a user hovers over a label in the toolbar, a clickable link is available to them - to take them to the organization's classification or GDPR compliance policy, for example.
