  1. Users have an easy way to find and install the AIP app from the Microsoft Store

When a user (in a company that hasn't deployed AIP) receives content protected with AIP in PPDF, PJPG, PTXT, PFILE or other such format, they have to install the AIP app to open it.
At this point, users have to find and download the app on their own, which involves potential risks. Publishing the AIP app on the app store, and associating it with the relevant file extensions, would allow users to automatically find, download and install the application needed to open those files.

  2. View IRM and protected PDFs in the Document Viewer or Browser

There currently is not a way to view a IRM-protected PDF or protected PDF (.PPDF) in the browser. The protected PDF initially opens in the 'document viewer' app with a message saying "Hmm...looks like this file doesn't have a preview we can show you." If you click Open-Open in Browser you get a message saying "This PDF file is protected." Your only option is to download the PDF and open it in Foxit or Azure Information Protection Viewer (NOT Adobe Acrobat) which is not ideal.

  3. AIP Client - Provide capability for custom install option in AIP Client (No PowerShell and Scanner bits for Central Deployment)

We are planning to leverage the .msi version of AIP client for central deployment and would like to install only the core AIP client components such as add-ins, viewer and RMS clients, but PowerShell modules and Scanner are optional for our end users. Looking at post install options to remove AIP.dll and Scanner bits. wondering if there is any plan to provide custom installation option in future releases ?

  4. Allow Autosave on Rights Management Documents and AIP

Allow AutoSave to work when you have Rights Management or Azure Information Protection. Currently, it becomes disabled when you protect the document which then causes inconsistent behavior across documents and interferes with coauthoring.

  5. AIP Client for MacOS (for non-Office file formats)

Provide a Mac AIP client that is consistent with the current Windows AIP client, and is able to classify and protect documents from the desktop. For the AIP toolbar in Mac Office, use https://msip.uservoice.com/forums/600097-azure-information-protection/suggestions/19602337-integrate-aip-natively-into-office-for-mac.

The original feature of enabling labeling capabilities in Mac OS is currently available in public preview.
This suggestion was forked from the original general request to release an AIP client for Mac. Applying protection for non-Office files is currently available using the Mac RMS Sharing app which is not deprecated (unlike the Windows release). Therefor the suggestion is standing in order to release an AIP Client for non-Office files in Mac and currently updated to “Under Review”

  7. AIP Client support for Password protected Office files

Currently, Only the Office apps can handle both password and IRM protected files.
The error message for the password protected files is sometimes corrupted or in-friendly.
It might not be supported scenario, but I hope the UX would be better at least.

  12. Increase the number of file types for classification only

Currently only a few file types are supported by AIP for classification only (without using RMS) https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/information-protection/rms-client/client-admin-guide-file-types
For example .rtf, .txt, .video files and many more are not supported for classification. Also .pdf from inside Adobe Reader.
You should consider to increase the number of file types as a priority. It is now a potential gap considering the competition.

Please be aware that there is often a reason why a file is not able to be classified without protection. Basic file types us txt (and therefore CSV and other renamed txt files) do not support custom metadata. The only way to do this is to do unnatural things like use alternate file streams and require a client endpoint, neither of which is a great option.

But we would love to understand what file types you would like supported beyond what is today, our goal is to work with the application vendor and provide native integrations.

  13. OD4B and SPO Library sync support for protected libraries
