  1. Support for discovering, classifying, protecting and reporting sensitive data in Azure resources like Blobs, Files

AIP can automatically scan and protect documents in file servers, SharePoint, etc., while MCAS and other products in the MIP family can protect files in cloud resources. The ask here is to support scanning and protecting Azure resources such as Azure blobs and file storage with AIP in the same way AIP protects other types of storage.

  3. Detect sensitive content stored in existing watermark and/or document metadata (Comments/Title/Tags/etc.)

Expand the AIP scanner to be able to detect keywords/sensitive data located in the watermark and document metadata fields.

  4. Be able to configure Scanner policies and repositories at the local level

Some organizations have many divisions with independent management. They can’t centrally manage AIP Scanner policies and Repositories via a central portal. The AIPScannerRepository PowerShell commandlets allowed for a degree of independence but that flexibility is gone with the centralized management. Either bringing back the Scanner configuration PowerShell or providing other methods such as RBAC for segregating administration would address this.

  5. AIP can automatically translate 3rd party labels to AIP labels

To enable migrations from 3rd party classification solutions to AIP, AIP should be able to read the 3rd party metadata and map that data to an AIP label. This will help to ensure that we can migrate from one service to AIP in a manner that is seamless for users and maintains the results of previous data classification efforts.

  7. AIP scanner with service account non-federated will not work

AIP scanner with service account non-federated will not work, unless you use disconnected client configuration procedure. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/information-protection/rms-client/client-admin-guide-customizations#support-for-disconnected-computers. Make it simpler, We followed all MS documentation with SA account and this was not working. AIP scanner should detect that, that SA account is not the same as PS account and copy the files to SA account profile.

  8. AIP Scanner should support any document repository using CMIS

Most document repositories support a common protocol called CMIS. This would allow customers to use the AIP Scanner generically against CMIS-supported document repositories for classification and labeling.

  9. AIP Scanner working with multple accounts

So in the past few days we discovered that having the scanner in a different domain than production is going to present some challenges. If you use a scoped policy the ID is going to be an DOMAIN1 ID but how do you scan items in other domains? In theory you can export policies and run a scanner in a different domain using a static policy but when we get to the RMS stage how does that work without a connection to Azure to store the keys?

A first thought on how they could address this. Change it so the…
